The Germans landed in Great Britain! To be more precise, they did land on the Channel Islands, where they stayed for almost 5 years! On June 15th 1940, the British government chose not to protect these islands, which were not considered as a strategic position. The inhabitants were evacuated but some of them decided to stay after making sure the kids were safely sent away.
End of June 1940, the Germans started to occupy the islands. After quickly setting up communication networks and anti-aircraft defenses, they built strong coastal defenses.
The Channel Islands were freed after German capitulation, on May 8th 1945.
